The project deliberately distances itself from logics of continuous publication, visibility and content flow. Instead, it is anchored in a dedicated online space (this website) conceived as an environment for exploration inspired by animal tracking.

“Why is she here?” ...

“What happened there?” ...

“Where did they go?” …

Tracking constantly moves between these poles: At one end lies direct, embodied experience through field workshops, moving through a landscape, attending to all five senses (across multiple scales!), reading the ground, mobilising intuition, sensing subtle changes… At the other lies reflection: the moment when observations are interpreted and discussed, bringing memory and knowledge into play (alongside the capacity to doubt!) and sometimes connecting them to broader questions about perception, ecology or society.

From its earliest origins, tracking has gathered together a remarkable range of abilities essential to the life of any animal. In distant times, these questions carried immediate consequences… to read the traces often meant finding food, or failing to survive.

Today, in a world organised around supermarkets and technological infrastructures, survival no longer depends directly on these skills. Yet tracking has not lost its relevance (see Our Missions). On the contrary, at a time when modern societies often experience a widening separation between mind, body and the living world, the practice brings together forms of perception, reasoning and embodied knowledge that allow living beings to navigate complex environments.
